Planets always produce collonists. Planets may upgrade ships in addition to any other production they do. However, only one of MAT, CAP, technology, or ship-design, may be produced in a turn. > > PS any tips on general economic strategy would be helpful Pay close attention to the MAT cost for anything you build (ships and capital). Your actual production ability will vary depending on the amount of MAT you have in storage and the resorce rating of your planet. A home planet's actual production ability (without any MAT stockpiled) is actually somewhere between 998 and 999. I highly recomend picking up a copy of GTV. It will do all of your calculations for you (including the maximum size ship that can be produced from a planet given its current effective industry and resorce value).
