Yes, the game is still being played.  The new rules sections (those
related to combat & training) haven't been released by RTG yet - I think
they've pushed the ETA on them back till around 2nd quarter 96.

Yeah, it's still the best space opera around (and the most expensive too
<g>).  The game boasts a very active discussion list (send a message to
bse-list-request@pbm.com with the word subscribe as either the subject or
body of the message to subscribe) and several webpages, most of which can
be reached at http://www.pbm.com/bse (the BSE-List is also available as a
hypermail archive on the site).
