Blind Galaxy V2.44 released From: bampton@cs.utk.edu (Howard the Energizer) Date: Sun, 31 Dec 1995 00:00:00 +0000 Since there has been a bit of galaxy traffic here as of late... I have released V2.44 of the Blind galaxy code. This is pretty much a "fix a bunch of bugs" release from the player perspective. In particular: Bugs in 2.43 fixed in 2.43 patch 1: Fleets- Upgraded groups in a fleet could never move again Upgraded groups could not be broken off from a fleet B group fleet comment produced errors S/I commands could be done on upgraded groups (V2.43 only) Bugs in 2.43 and 2.43 patch 1 fixed in 2.44: Several spurious "extra token" complaints about commands with comments, as well as better error messages in general. Forecaster now aborts when more than TOOMANYBAD "bad" orders are detected (presently 120). Battle code used a 1/0.251 ratio (3.984-1), instead of a 4-1 one. Upgrades didn't happen in games compiled without Partial techs. N/C/T commands are more picky about questionable names (from a OS perspective, not content). Longforcasts would print alien systems twice, the second time as being "unowned" Fleets- I group-in-fleet system failed to break off the group from the fleet. Shortint option with fleets made up of groups of different speeds could cause some groups to go to one system, while others went elsewhere Routes for cap/mat/emp could break off groups from a fleet, if they could carry cargo. Things only GMs are probably intersted in: Experimental SPEED code for numtop, Read, and sortphase Linux port, and bug fixes turned up by said. Blindrc->ascii and ascii->blindrc converter created The code now detects fleets with groups at multiple systems, and intentionally crashes. Duplicate orders for the same player now cause the program to crash. Note that the "crashes" are intentional, as they indicate problems which the GM should investigate. GMs using older versions are encouraged to upgrade their code.
