New Galaxy Game Starting (second call) From: slothoub@cs.utwente.nl (Frans Slothouber) Date: Wed, 03 Jan 1996 00:00:00 +0000 Greetings I posted this message before, but I am posting it again cause I need just one more player for the galaxy game I am about to start. Thusfar 9 players from 6 different countries have joined. You can find the details about the game can be found below. If you are interested in joining this game just send me a mail. Frans. *** New Galaxy Game Starting *** The second week of January I plan on starting a new galaxy game called L L LLLL LLLLL LLLL LLLL L L LLLL L L L L L L L L LL L L LLLLL L L L L L L L L L LLL L L L L L L L L L LL L L L LLLL L LLLL LLLL L L LLLL ( where Death is swift and Life is short ) ** Game Details ** Since this will be the first time I host a game I plan to start small. The game is limited to 10 Players. The galaxy will be of size 130 x 130 lightyears with 70 Planets. HotZone will run three times a week: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 12:00 GMT. ** Mail Server ** I have coded an Mail Server that will automatically check your orders and send a reply within 10 minutes. It uses the orders checker coded by Russel Wallace. The server should be up 24 hours a day. The turn itself will be run by hand, but I plan to automate this as well once I am satisfied the game runs bug free. I will be using galaxy version 3.52 running on on a Sun Sparc station. ** Length of the Game ** Given the size of the galaxy and the fact the game runs three times a week, the game is expected to finish within a year. If you are ple you have email access during this time. My email account does not expire for another four years so you can be assured that the game run till the end. If a player for any reason quits the game his/her home planet will be reset to size 13 and resource ** How to Join ** If you are interested in joining this game send an email to slothoub@xs4all.nl and I will add you to the players-list. The game is limited to 10 players. ** Additional Information ** For additional information about the game Galaxy take a look at: o http://www.iquest.net/galaxy/galaxy.html (Robert Novak) o http://dialup.oar.net/~Peric/galaxy.html (Eric Bales) Here you can find the rules for the game and various tools. If you have a PC you might be interested in downloading GalaxyTV, which as I was told makes playing the game even more enjoyable since you can view the turn reports graphically. For some additional Unix/Amiga tools take a look at: o http://www.xs4all.nl/~slothoub/galaxytools.html Have Fun, Frans. Referenced By Up
