Dixonary/Fictionary From: barron@use.usit.net (Tom Barron) Date: Mon, 01 Jan 1996 00:00:00 +0000 This is a game I've played by email on CI$. Any number can play. I would guess somewhere between 10 and 20 would be optimal. The dealer selects an obscure word and posts it in a public place. Each player invents a more or less plausible definition and sends it privately to the dealer. The dealer puts all the definitions (including the correct one) into an ordered list and posts this list publicly. Each player then votes for two definitions, sending their votes to the dealer, publicly if possible. Each false definition gets a point for each vote it receives. Players voting for the correct definition get a point. If the correct definition receives no votes, the dealer gets two points. The dealer tabulates the scores and publishes them. I think in the game (still going on) on CI$, the second highest scorer in a round becomes the dealer for the next round. Does anyone know of any games like this going on on the net? CI$ is expensive :-( If you don't know of any games like this but would be interested in participating in one, e-mail me. If I find a game, I'll let you know. If I get enough responses, we might start a game. One of the nice things about it is how easy it is for newcomers to join in the game. Thanks for reading so far -- sorry for the length of this post... -- Tom Barron | barron@usit.net | Happy New Year! Nashville, TN, USA | Referenced By Up
