Midgard (USA): An update from cycle #23 From: pyrich@cris.com (John & Alissa Pyrich) Date: Tue, 16 Jan 1996 00:00:00 +0000 This last year has seen the most consistent processing in recent memory. First I'll go over the processing and then I'll get to the in game stuff. Alan and Zan have gottten processing down to on turn a month and have been on schedule for the last 4-6 cycles. Right now, I'm doing my Cycle 24 turns! Bugs in the computer program continue to be fixed and not only that but Zan is doing a lot more work on the programs to update them. A lot of things that were always supposed to happen according to the rules are going to be implemented soon. Now on to the in-game stuff. There's a lot going on. The Buccaneers are a new faction. The SOA has been revived (by me) as a pure mercenary faction (I'm the #1 Senior). The Brotherhood looks like it might be starting up, but I'm not sure The Serkeanar went NPC for a while and left all of their cities that weren't under siege. The Blood and Fire is back. Here's the Heliograph reports from the Midgard Report cycles #16 - 22. C#16: * The city of Torvest Clearing fell to the Banner. The MerkVerk showed up. * The MerkVerk lost the citizens of Torvest Clearing in thier care to the Serkeanar Clan of "Dragon of Moorlock". Several MerkVerk clans virtually wiped out. * MercVerk have several other cities under siege. C#17: * Sieges - Eblan, Poins, Fanglan, and Freetun. * Torvest Clearing turned over to the MerkVerk. C#18: *Sieges - Port Hyter, Fanglan, and Freetun, * Martial Law declared in Losteen by Imperials. * MerkVerk captured city of Poins with heavy casualties. Eblan surrenders to Banner. * Torvert Clearing - all temples destroyed by "Dragon of Moorlock", and rides away - no defenders. C#19: * Siege at Port Hyter broken off. * Sieges continue at Freetun and Fanglan. * Large Naval battle on Inland Waterway outside Fanglan. MerkVerk fleet destroyed, but Serkeanar fleet severely damaged. C#20: * Sieges progress at Korgrave, Freetun, and Fanglan. C#21: * The sieges at Freetun and Fanglan continue. * MerkVerk ambushed by Serkeanar, but have overwhelming force and destroy Serkeanar clan. C#22: The sieges at Fanglan and Freetun continue. * Serkeanar siege MerkVerk city of Blood Guard. * Losteen - part next. * Lakehed falls to Buccaneers. * Banner forces under Clan Erin track down Dragon of Moorlock. plus more... Changes to the game: * New siege rules: Apply the mancycles of the attacker to the total number of mancycles needed to build fortifications and impediments. When it's zero the atacker may attack with the full benefit of the siege. They're better than before, but Alan and Zan both know that this is just an interim solution. * New building: Ippodrome * Cities make more money. * Faction Benefits/Penalties - Buy/Sell/Movement Bonus automated. * Force March automated. * Shipyard Harbors/Docks defined. Protected "Military" Docks = Shipyard rating times 10 in ship points. These are under protection of the city walls and siege weapons. Unprotected "Civilian" Docks = Shipyard rating times 100 in ship points. * Faction abilities automated (Getham remote CVR, Ring Divination, Gift enginerrs, Roder followers as Ag Stations). * Clan Recruit changed to allow recruiting of Experience Level. * Universities are coming. * As of cycle 26, clans will have to feed attached regiments. Independent regiments are paid by the position that they are assigned to. * As of cycle 26, Ship Maintenance costs will be deducted. * The Midgard Economic System is being drastically revised. * Getham caravans have been automated. plus more...
