Re: What hardware/software do I need to moderate PBEM? From: Geoff Dunbar <atlantis@rahul.net> Date: Fri, 09 Feb 1996 00:00:00 +0000 ]Right now, I have a dial-in school account. This would not be ]acceptable. I guess that I need to find a local ISP that can ]provide a 24/7 connection. Well, it isn't _completely_ necessary. For awhile I was running Atlantis from a simple shell account. I would download the orders mail to run the turn, and then upload the results and mail them out. It was a bit of a pain though. ]I have a spare 386/40, 8M ram, 350M HD, and a 14.4 modem that I can ]dedicate for this. Right now it is running DOS, but I expect that i ]will have to put Linux on it. Atlantis 2.0 is running on a P66 with 32 meg ram, 800 meg hd. This is certainly overkill. However, you'll want to make sure you program your game pretty efficiently, and you might want to think about having smaller reports than Atlantis generates. Geoff Up
