[PBEM News] Heroes Aren't Born, They're Made From: blackaeon@yahoo-dot-com.no-spam.invalid (blackaeon) Date: Sun, 08 Apr 2007 05:53:42 +0000 Heroes Aren't Born, They're Made (Claremont Academy MM2ed/freeform game) When you were in school, did you ever wish that you could fly or lift a bus over your head? Maybe super-speed would've really helped you out during those dodgeball games in phys ed that just NEVER seemed to end? We all know heat vision could have been helpful when you had to eat the never-quite-hot-enough mashed potatoes in the cafeteria! If you can relate to any of this, perhaps it's time that you enrolled your student at the Claremont Academy. Located on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico and situated just ouside the modern megatropolis that is Freedom City, TX, the Claremont Academy specializes in helping youngsters with unusual gifts learn to control their unique abilities while fostering an environment of strong moral values in addition to teaching the usual curricula. Under the watchful eyes of Headmaster Duncan McNeil and his staff of top-flight educators, today's superhuman teens will develop important life skills and lifelong friendships, in addition to discovering the many facets of their talents and abilities in the Academy's cutting edge facilities. We're currently looking for at least 8 (though we're ready and more than willing to accomodate up to 20!) motivated writers to join us in creating a long-lasting and highly entertaining campaign. If you've played other super-school games before and were disappointed by the lack of action, don't despair! We promise that every character will get the chance to go "on missions" and there will be plenty of excitement to go around, in addition to a dynamic character advancement system that actually allows you to improve your powers and character in-game without waiting and wrangling endlessly for/with moderators or admins. Although characters will be generated via Mutants and Masterminds 2nd Edition rules, if you don't have any experience with the setting, apply anyways! The game is largely going to have a freeform feel to it; at no time will any player be required to roll dice or crunch numbers. Not familiar with the Freedom City setting? Never even heard of it? No worries! There's a bevy of files on the site that you can peruse at your leisure and that will immerse you in the setting. Please note, however, that this is not an X-Men or DC comics game, and any characters from either comic universe will NOT be accepted. It's not that we don't love the comics, we just want to see something different. Similarly, you won't run into the problem that some sims have with five characters having similar, if not totally duplicate, powers, because we pride originality above all else. You don't have to feel limited to playing mutants, either, although they're generally the most prevalent. If you want to play a teenage cyborg, a magic-wielding Goth, superbly trained athlete with a nose for detective work, etc, that's fine, as long as you make your character a teenager between the ages of 13-18 (in the case of aliens, their biological equivalent!).
