..but more than men. This is a world that combines characters of
several comic universes (Marvel, DC, Valiant, etc) with characters
and themes from other, super hero/action-adventure comics, novels, TV
shows, and movies that suit the genre, in a rebooted continuity so
that you can play as your favorite established characters, but
reimagined to suit your tastes.

The setting is more realistic than normal comic fare and focused on
maintaining continuity and achieving high drama. This means that, for
the most part, the metahuman powers are more restrained than in the
comics or movies, with little in the way of earth-shattering
abilities that constantly threaten to remake or destroy the world.
This helps with verisimilitude and hopefully keeps it from devolving
into a mindless blast-and-sizzle urban dungeon crawl.

The background posits an alternate history where the presence of
metahumans has significantly affected world history, so that the
setting is reminiscent of our own but different enough to encourage
creativity. The timeline can be found here, and the board where the
gaming will take place is here.

You may play as  either an established, canon character from the
literature or an orgiinal creation (or both!). Eventually, all
characters will have to have a HERO 5th edition character sheet, but
not yet. The game will focus more on cooperative storytelling and
player interaction than micro-managed quests, so it has a free-form
feeling, and appeal to the rules will primarily be restricted to
special situations as determined by the GM and player-on-player
combat. Help is available for all aspects of character creation and
story involvement, so please don't hesitate to start up a discussion
on the board to help you get started.
