Strange & Fun Play-By-Email Game (w/self-modifying rules) From: mitcharf@mail.utexas.edu (Mitchell Harding) Date: Tue, 26 Mar 1996 00:00:00 +0000 First le me apologize for the somewhat off-topic post, but I just wanted to let you know about this game... I hope you enjoy it... If you are looking for an unusual game to occupy your time, you might want to try Ackanomic. It's unlike any other game you've played before. To make a brief (and woefully inadequate) summary of the game, you begin with an initial rule set. In this set of rules is basically how to win the game, etc, and also how to make new rules, or modify currently existing ones. When the game begins you are free to alter the rules (as long as you remain within the rules while doing so). We've been playing Ackanomic since mid-January and it is quite fun. Don't worry about joining the game late -- it doesn't make any difference. The game is fun no matter when you join. Also, you can choose to observe if you don't want to jump right in... You will receive the mail from the game, but you won't be able to alter the rules, etc. Additionally, you can quit at any time and not worry about it, so don't feel pressured... I know that this game doesn't sound that exciting or fun at first. Initially I thought it sounded boring -- now I love the game! All I ask is that you check it out and give it a try. You might like it. If not, no harm done... For more information on this game either check out http://ccwf.cc.utexas.edu/~mitcharf/ackanomic.html or email our current Registrar at rabidchild.paulswan@mail.utexas.edu. It is his job to answer your questions. Oh, btw, this game is completely free, no strings attatched, no scams, etc, etc... We are just on the lookout for new players to enjoy the game with us. Thanks for the eartime, Mitch Referenced By Up
