ELORDS is coming ... From: eddief6@ix.netcom.com (Eddie Efsic III) Date: Thu, 18 Apr 1996 00:00:00 +0000 Hello again pbm gamers, I'm back and happy to announce lords via email is going to happen. I've corresponded extensively with the creator of Lords of the Earth, and it's a certainty now. When I previously posted an article polling for interest, I recieved a few common questions. 1. Can you tell me more about it? 2. How much does it cost? 3. Who or what moderates the game? Answer #1 Yes. I could go on all day about Lords. I used to play (~8 years) but got tired of waiting 6 months to over a year for recent turns. So I retired my Celestial Throne in the Khemer Empire. But I found I love the game and the system. So I decided to run a campaign. Oh, right, about the game. Try this URL, it has TONS of info about LOTE. http://gumby.spa.umn.edu/cscdir/lotedir/homepage.lote.html Answer #2 I figured about 20$ to start for new players, and about $13.50 for players with the most current version 5 rulebook. I have since figured a way to dramatically reduce that cost. Here's a breakdown... a. Rule book Version 5.?, $13.00 postal or $6.50 email from Tom Harlan (address follows) b. Mapset, $10.00 postal or free email (gif) from me (address follows) c. Turns initially $5 for 5 turns ($1 per turn), after I recoup my license fee I figure to reduce this to 50 or 75 cents per turn. So to summarize costs, new players can get away with $6.50 to Tom and $5 to me. Old players who already have the rulebook, can start elords with $5 for five turns. Amswer #3 There is a computer driver which has routines to moderate the investments and builds of players. However, the GM (me) is responsible for writing the fax (example, see the above URL), interpreting the players activity summaries into plain english, and injecting a dose of humor, when necessary. I plan to start the game on 2 week cycles, and then go weekly if 1) it's easy enough for me and more importantly 2) the players in the game desire to accelerate the game.
