Guinea Pigs wanted for new type of PBEM game. From: Cavalier@Wolfenet.com (Daniel A. Bell) Date: Wed, 17 Apr 1996 00:00:00 +0000 Hi Folks, I would like to try a new type of PBEM. Having been Pbming for a while I noticed that it is a good format in most cases, but things really drag when it get to combat. Combat can take a good few weeks depending on how many opponents there are and all the other factors. So what I would like to try is to run a normal PBEM game (based in TSR's Forgotten Realms) that will use the traditional PBEM format except for when it comes to combat, at which point a convenient time will be arranged with all the players where combat will take place on an IRC channel. All realtime, just as if you were sitting at wherever you game with all the other players right there. A summery of the daily responses will be sent to all players or posted on my soon to be completed webpage in a story-like format. I would like to audition 5 people who are intrested. The requirements are: 1) Part of the audtion will require you to submit a brief discription or concept of the character that you wish to play. If you want to use an existing character that you have, that is fine, however, the party will start at first level. So any character that you want to import will need to be modifed for 1st as well as being redone on the skills and powers rules. And, of course, the character will need to be reviewed by me prior to inclusion to the party. 2) Fantasy character concept, with a fairly detailed past that explains the characters motivations, why they are adventuring etc... 3) Good aligned only please. If the party is working more on killing each other than the big Baddie, PBEM goes even slower than normal. 4) I am using the Skills and Powers rules. This being such a new book some who would like to play may not have access to it. Never fear, I have done my share of keeping TSR in biz and have access to a lot of source stuff right here. I would be more than happy to help make up a character during an IRC chat or via e mail. 5) Continuity is a must in PBEM, therefore if you will be unable to reply daily, then this probably isn't for you. 6) For now I only need 5 players, if this takes off and works then I will be expanding the campagin to include some of the other submissions that I recieved from the initial casting call. If this sounds like a cool new way to PBEM, then send your character concept to: Cavalier@Wolfenet.com. Soon the summery of the campagin will be available on my webpage, which is still under construction but will be up soon. Lurkers are welcome and are even encouraged, so that I can get the best feedback on the campagin and the IRC combat format. -Cavalier Referenced By Up
