Since Steve is still responsible for problem resolution (and maybe turn processing) I don't expect the service to significantly improve, at least in the short run. As I remember it, SSI ran EC for quite a while, then it went on hiatus for 6 months or so. Then they started running turns again, and only ran a few, then another hiatus happened. Then DragonByte got the game and it ran like clockwork until I was smoked. Actually, they could still be processing turns like clockwork. >>Last time, they folded >>soon thereafter. For the Historical Evidence, I was referring to my history with Suzerainty and 7th Dimension Gaming. Massey apparently chose the only town in the U.S. where the Postal Service doesn't use "neither rain, nor hail, nor dark of night...", but uses "if we feel like it" as thier operating philosophy. The telephone service there is equally as bad. The caller will hear it ring and ring, but nothing is received on the other end, either by handsets or modems. Too bad the current company is advocating Play-By-BBS in thier ad in Computer Gaming World. I was hoping that Massey would sell Suzerainty to some other gaming house, ANY other gaming house. I know he had several offers. Given the state of the software (developed by several programmers who didn't code in the same languages), perhaps he didn't think they'd buy it after seeing the internals.
