It turned out that the planet names were still unique but having had
only a partial map for the previous few turns I thought they were
not. In fact what had happened was that he changed the planet names
from the original numbers to numbers of planets that had just been
given names at the other end of the galaxy, as the GM has pointed out
to me.

I assume this player will be effectively dead soon, having annoyed me
so much with his name changes that I *had* to attack his HP around
turn 10 of the game...
