ATLANTISv2 atl-players-digest #218 From: csd@microplex.com (Christian Daudt) Date: Mon, 06 May 1996 00:00:00 +0000 Errors to csd@microplex.com For more information on Atlantis, visit the Web site http://www.rahul.net/atlantis, or email the gamemaster at atlantis@rahul.net. If you want previous digests, they are available via WWW at http://www.microplex.com/~csd/atlantisv2/ NOTE: I'll be closing down this service in a while. It is no longer necessary, as the postings have trickled down to almost nothing in the atlantis mailing lists. ---------------------------------------------------------- From: Dave McGaw <u3djm@csc.liv.ac.uk> Subject: United Portal Services Date: Fri, 3 May 1996 16:09:21 +0100 (BST) Hello one and all!!! Its been a hell of a week here in Scouserland (Liverpool for those who don't know where Scouserland is) as I've had my dissertation to get in. But now that it's finished, and Atlantis is back up, I've gotta figure out who was next on the UPS list. At the moment I still have a waiting list of two people ready to go. In keeping with confidentiallity I can't tell you who, but the folks who were wanting my services had better contact me b4 monday, or I'll set my mage guy to study. Speaking of study, I'm looking for a level 1 teach in the discipline of the Mind, so if anyone can oblige, I'll be grateful. This does, of course, rely on the PJ charter not being on this turn!! Anyway, as the UPS Departure Lounge is finished, why not pop in and book a flight? Hear from (someone) soon!! Bye!!! Regards as ever Dave McGaw ---------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Atlantis: Prettstern Date: Fri, 3 May 1996 13:46:59 -0400 (EDT) From: "Kati and Jay" <yaj@photobooks.atdc.gatech.edu> Greetings, The Kingdom of Prettstern's email address is now: yaj@photobooks.com Would everyone who Prettstern normally has had dealings with and is still in the game please contact me and let me know your current needs; I previously had a long list of subsidies I provided every month, and would not want to give money to someone who has dropped their position. In other news, Prettsterni forces captured Abernethy, capital of the Abernethy Council, last month. High-level talks between the Council and the Kingdom of Prettstern are being conducted. In the meantime, all units currently occupying fortifications in the city of Abernethy is requested to either leave said buildings or allow Prettsterni access. All persons in the neighboring town of Ettrick are requested to set their avoid combat flag on, for their own safety. Hello one and all. Now that we are up and running again, I want to share with you the events that transpired this last turn. First, our allies (the Republic of Rome) dealt a crippling blow to our enemies, the PCP. In a battle tat took place near Palmi, the Pirates lost over 700 troops and the Romans suffered no losses. While the troops can be replaced easily, the mages and the time invested in them cannot. Next turn, they will lose what mages they have in that region. I cannot say more, as it is the role of the Romans to talk about their plans, not mine. Second, the Pirates made the mistake of venturing into the desert with a large body of troops (over 1,000!) and trusted in the company of several mages to gain them access to our cities, Alfaro, Jervbygd and Berriedale. We were able to prevent them, as I said in the Times, from entering the Tri-cities and will continue to do so indefinitely. The wise thing for the Pirates to do would be to turn tail and run. Unfortunately, for them, that brings me to point number three. We have another blizzard mage at their backs, preventing their return to Jaca, a city that will soon be in our control, again thanks to the ROR. A battle took place there last turn that left the city open to our attack. We have the city surrounded and our spies within will launch the attack. What will this large body of troops do out in the middle of the desert? It is clear to our mountain and desert dwelling MADmen that none of the pirates had any notion of the rigours involved in living in the desert. It is equally clear to us that the desert, harsh teacher that she is, will soon make them understand their folly of trying to have that large a force live in the desert, and in particular, in a pillaged desert hex. To the PCP we say this. Leave Jaca and the surrounding region forever. We will make you starve in the desert for the entire monsoon season. You will not be able to move forward nor back, you will not be able to live off the land. We know that you have a portal with you so you may bring additional supplies in, but you will not walk out of here alive. Your magicians may come and portal you out, we have no way of stopping you, but unless you are willing to trhow good money after bad, you will lose your military force. We are glad. After this monsoon season is over, we will eliminate whatever troops you have left behind. Then and only then, will we consider the debt for the murder of the town of Jaca paid. But we will still come after you. We know that as long as there is a single pirate left on the face of the world, the disease and putrefaction that you represent will continue to offend us.
