You will need to send your join requests to the automated server. The address and subject lines are in this message. What is galaxy? Galaxy is a strategy game in which the goal is to capture and hold as many planets as you can while designing your ships, increasing your technology and enjoying diplomatic relations with those neighbours that you are not attacking. Where do I get the instructions and a more detailed description? http://dialup.oar.net/~Peric/galaxy.html (Be careful to capitalize the above address exactly as it is typed above or it won't work. There is only one capital letter in the whole thing.) Or you can send Email to: galaxy@harmony.indyramp.com With a subject of: sendme docs The mailer will automatically send you the documentation. Please make sure that you spell both the account and machine names correctly. What games are starting? I am starting one, two turn per week game. It will be called louisville (all of my games are named after cities) and will run on Mondays and Thursdays. Rules? Play will be according to the rules according to Russel Wallace, as returned by my mailer if requested. Group victories WILL NOT BE ALLOWED. A single person will be allowed only one position in each game. If it has been determined, in the GM's opinion, that the same person has been playing more than one position in a game, that person will forfeit both positions. That person will also be banned from play in all future games of Galaxy run by me. Their Email address will be sent out to all known Galaxy GMs so that other GMs can do as they see fit also. There NO exceptions to this rule. The reason for this is that playing more than one position in the same game can seriously upset the balance of power in the game, and the fairness of the game for the other players. Do you provide an orders checker? Yes. I have installed the galaxy checker, and a program of my own to check for some other problems with orders. How long does a game take? It can take an hour or so to prepare your turn orders near the beginning of the game. Should you be one of the lucky ones, toward the end of the game turn orders can take from four to six hours to prepare. Please be sure you can handle the time requirements. How long does a game last? two turn per week games: These generally last around one year. Please make sure you will have uninterrupted mail access for the duration of the game. (Advance orders can be sent in for short vacations, but if you will be gone for summer break you will need to be sure you can make arrangements to have someone else play your position until you get back.) How do I join? THE FOLLOWING IS CASE SENSITIVE!!! Please use lower case for everything Send Email to: galaxy@harmony.indyramp.com with a subject of: join louisville The body of the message can be left blank. It will not be seen by me. Be sure and send the Email from the account that you will be playing the game from, as the Email address will be pulled off of the return address of your mail. Games will be filled in a first-come first-served basis.
