Bacteria Playtest From: eccles@ozemail.com.au (Eric McDermott) Date: Tue, 21 May 1996 00:00:00 +0000 Hi people, Dynamic Games of Australia is starting it's first fully PBEM game of Bacteria soon, and we'd like some playtesters to put the email version to the test. Here is the (quite new/proposed) PBM List of Lists entry: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Name: Bacteria Type: Abstract Duration: 20-30 turns Frequency: 14 day turns GM: computer moderated Format: snail, email, gui Costs: AUST$3.00/turn email, AUST$5.00/turn postal URL: http://www.ozemail.com.au/~pbm/bacteria.html Email: pbm@ozemail.com.au Keywords: commercial, close-ended, email, computer, abstract Last-Update: 1996May21 Description: Bacteria is a PBEM game where each of 9 players play a colony of cells in a drop of water, trying to become the strongest collective organism of the game. Players submit orders for each of their cells to either move, multiply or attack each turn. Each players group of cells is referred to as their "Swab". Each swab starts off with a Nucleus and about a dozen other cells, arguably the most important being Energy cells and Producer cells. Together, these cells can produce either more Enery and Producer cells or Warriors and Absorbers to attack the other swabs in the drop of water, and to defend against pesky virii which can attack at any time. The winner is the last swab left err.. pulsing. This is a highly polished and well balanced game with an excellent Windows turn viewer and order entry program available. Company: Dynamic Games P.O. Box 707 Dapto, NSW 2526 Australia (042) 61-7148 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We're offering the first 9 players that respond a free game, since this will be our first fully email game of Bacteria ever. To participate you need to: 1) Log onto our web page and download the Bacteria Turn Viewer: html://www.ozemail.com.au/~pbm/files/winbacte.zip (you'll also need pkunzip or winzip to unpack it) It's compatible with Win3.1 as well as Win95. It's 'only' 120K in size. 2) If you haven't already, you may as well get (and read!) the rules again: html://www.ozemail.com.au/~pbm/bacteria/bactrule.html 3) Reply to this message and let us know you're interested. 4) Send us a file attachment of the turn inside the winbacte.zip archive called BA001E04.T10. This will help us iron out any problems with receiving attachments from you - which will be needed to be sent and received by you and us every single turn. 5) Start thinking about startup strategies and strategies in general! Any problems with *any* of the above steps, please email us and we will try and help as best we can! Regards, Peter & Eccles.
