First off, just because VGAP is a recreational activity, it doesn't give
you the right to post in any rec group you wish.  (although some posts
about VGAP may be appropriate for r.g.pbm)  Secondly, there are a BUNCH
of people on a.g.vgap who need to get off their high horses, pull their
heads out of their a**es, and READ THE DAMN NEWSGROUPS LINE before you
start bitching about off topic posts.  It's the damn VGAP group which
keeps pulling all the off topic threads onto a.g.vgap.  The guy you
attempted to flame in such a clueless, ignorant manner was posting from
rec.games.pbm, a group devoted to Play by MAIL (not necessarily e-mail,
but SNAIL MAIL) games.  There is a very large following for play by mail
games, including Advanced Squad Leader among many others.  Most of these
play by mail games are on a strategic level which makes VGAP look like a
nintendo game, and these guys are starting to get REALLY pissed that a
bunch of VGAPers have decided that their game qualifies for this group,
just because of the group name.  VGAP has it's own group, and unless you
want to discuss the mechanics of emailing your turn, VGAP discussion
doesn't belong in r.g.pbm.  a.g.vgap appears to have more than it's share
of clueless, hostile posters from the point of view of people who don't
tend to read alt groups.  If you want to post on non-alt groups, you
should learn to use your newsreader properly, and also realise that most
non-alt groups have a somewhat higher standard than the free-flowing,
almost anything goes style you may be used to.

To Summarise:  LOOK at who you are posting to before you spew a flame at
		them.  It might be you who is the jerk, rather than the
		person you are flaming.  Also, if the VGAP community wants
		to eliminate posts which compare VGAP to other games, then
		STOP invading the threads on other newsgroups.

As someone who plays ASL and VGAP, I can say that anyone who posts to
rec.games.pbm claiming that VGAP is the king of PBM games has his head so
far up his butt, he can probably lick his appendix.
