AD&D PBEM GAME STARTING, MAYBE From: rmrauch@pennet.net (<Rick Rauch>) Date: Tue, 04 Jun 1996 00:00:00 +0000 Hi all, I'm thinking of trying to run my Gateworld setting by email. The game will be human moderated, will not have turn fees, and will run turns about once a week. Gateworld is a fairly basic AD&D world to start out, but I bend and rework the rules a little. Under cartain conditions, groups can go into any kind of AD&D setting (Underdark, planes, space, ect.), and they can get there fairly quickly. And characters have a bit more freedom about some things. All character classes are permitted to cross-train in other class skills, and low level characters are permitted to do magic research and to craft magic items and such. However, things come with a pricetag! Also, entering or new characters are given the choice of being given "Gifts" from the gods. These things can make your character very powerful in certain ways right from the start. But again, these things also have a pricetag. If you are interested, there are some things you need to know. I do not allow players to run evil characters. I do make use of gods, demons, and other such high powers. If this might offend you, then don't play. My ex-wife destroyed much of my AD&D stuff, and I can't afford to replace it all quickly, so there are limits on what I can use right now. If you would like to make use of things I don't have, then you will have to provide me with those things, or do without. (All donations will be gladly accepted! :) ) Non-standard races and classes are accepted, with prior approval. For example, I have created a spellsinger class, that is extremely powerful even at low levels. If you would like to try that, or other things, just ask first. Kendar are absolutely forbidden! The tinker gnomes are bad enough! I prefer people that get into their characters, and who don't see NPCs as just "cannon fodder" or background. I also tend to favor those who think before they act, within the limits of their character. I will only take low level or new characters into the game. New characters will start out as usual. Others must be 4th level or less, and may be adjusted as I see fit. Those coming in will be coming in knowing nothing, but they are permitted to bring in some magic items. New caracters will have knowledge of the area they are from, and of the known world in general. I have never tried this before, so I WILL screw up at times. Please keep that in mind. And any and all help and advice will be gladly accepted. Oh, and if anyone would like to try playing a high level evil character, to give the other players an enemy to hate and to fight, let me know. This will be an NPC type character, not an adventurer, and you will have to act within guidelines I set. Well, I have 2 people interested right now, would anyone else like to give it a try? Rick ???
