Unable to locate a sufficiently ambitious taxidermist in the city to stuff and mount the bird, the garrison commander subsequently ordered what is now believed to be Atlantis' largest barbecue. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Nairn (AP) - IUN - AMI Tensions Increase Recently tensions have grown between the Imperial Union of Nairn and the Atlantean Mages Incorporated. The IUN/AMI relationship dates back to the early days, when the AMI emerged from the ashes of the Dominion, which fell to the Imperial torch. The Imperial Council gave the young AMI factions plenty of time to portal their survivors away to a remote mountain retreat, where they had time to heal their wounds. Since then, the spokesmen for the two alliances have shared an easy going friendship, one which remained intact until recently. Events in the town of Shanyin have tested that friendship, however. The AMI landed an elite force of bio-hazard troops in the town, and immediately unleased a deadly plague that killed the IUN sentry. Apparently they were not aware that Shanyin fell within the province of the IUN. The Imperial Council reacted by deploying a "sanitation squad" from their Council on Health and Communicable Diseases, to halt the spread of the mysterious virus and to prevent any further outbreaks. Their orders were to prevent any movement out of the town and await further instruction. The CHCD is meeting right now to determine if burning the town and eliminating any remaining AMI forces is necessary to insure the safety and well-being of the many IUN inhabitants that live in the surrounding cities and towns. Meanwhile, the IUN and AMI spokesmen have been conferring with their respective leadership bodies in an attempt to avert futher bloodshed. However, the future does not look very bright, as the IUN spokesman was quoted today as saying, "I'm afraid that the threat of this disease may simply be too great. The Council is deliberating now, but I hope that Steen and the rest of the AMI will understand if we have to burn Shanyin to the ground. I still hope that fate can be avoided, and I hope that our friendship can survive in the event that our decon squad must carry out the grim deed. Biological warfare is a risky endeavor indeed!" ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Sword production will soon be at maximum capacity in both the northern and southern bases of operations. The Happy Times Clan certainly is enjoying the happy times of late. This has had some impact on quality control, but the bad swords are labelled scimitars and few of the war types have the brains to know the difference... ------------------------------------------------------------------------ And so, the great migration continues. The ambitious have surged ahead, to rescout the lands they once knew, but had lost contact with, due to ravenous wolves and hostile forces in the far east. The less ambitious were cautiously moving ahead, making sure that their supplies would last them the trip it would take. It was hard, leaving the homes they had built over the past 3 years, but it was necessary. The alliance had decreed it. The alliance had risked all in order to protect this faction, and this faction's loyalty could be no less than total toward the alliance. This will take some getting used to. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ What to do? Summon a treeman army perhaps, make a few gadgets, use those ETHRAL powers to do a bit of travel, work towards those few elusive spells. So many powerful mages, so many choices. To hell with it. I think I'll just go find some Ressy Dogs and blast them with a fireball.
