Galaxy Fleet Challenge From: Tim Hughes <ac804@dial.pipex.com> Date: Thu, 13 Jun 1996 00:00:00 +0000 Galaxy Fleet Challenge. ======================= After the discussion in the "Re: Galaxy Matrix" thread I thought it might be interesting to see the effectiveness of different fleet designs for a given quantity of production. I propose to gather designs and put them on a web page as a guide for beginners (and others) about ships design. And have some fun as well I hope! I have a Galaxy Battle simulator, so I can run the battles and post the results. I'd like to start with about 5-10 fleets in a league and take it from there. RULES. ====== 1. I am the final arbiter in any dispute! 2. Standard Galaxy ship design criteria apply. 3. Each round is fought between the fleets of two players. 4. Each round is decided over 1000 simulated battles. 5. A league system will be used where each player fights one round agaisnt each other player. SCORING. ======== 1. Players are awarded 1 point for every battle in which they destroy the opposition. 2. No points are awarded to either player for a draw. DESIGN CRITERIA. ================ 1. All technology level start at 1.0. 2. Players are allocated 15 000 production. 3. Assume infinite MAT is avaiable. (i.e. Ships cost 10 x Mass to build). 4. Technology research is available at the usual rate (1.0 per 1000). 5. All ships are assumed built at the final technology levels researched. 5. No ship may be larger than mass 300. 6. All ships must have speed >= 6.0 FORMAT FOR ENTRIES. =================== 1. Entries by email ONLY. (Don't post to this newsgroup please!). 2. Submit to "t.hughes@dial.pipex.com", Subject: Galaxy Fleets 1. 3.
