The following digests (will come out every Sunday night) will be much smaller as they will only include the messages since the last digest (i.e. just 1 weeks worth of messages) If anyone does not want to receive the digests let me know and I will remove you the digest list. This weekly Digest will also get posted to rec.games.pbm so AG does not completely disappear from there (I will take care of this posting) Brett Mason apeiros@teleport.com owner-guild-l@teleport.com Moderator guild-l@teleport.com AG Mailing List ***** ------------------------------ From: Brett Mason <apeiros@teleport.com> Date: Mon, 17 Jun 1996 16:13:08 -0700 Subject: GUILD-L Guild-l Digest ***** - ---------- From: owner-guild-l@teleport.com[SMTP:owner-guild-l@teleport.com] Sent: Monday, June 17, 1996 4:23 AM To: owner-guild-l@teleport.com Subject: BOUNCE guild-l@teleport.com: Admin request Well by looking at a few logs it looks like by previous message was (almost) unnecessary. Guild-l is now a digested mail list what this means is if you want to subscribe to the digest list (guild-l-digest@teleort.com) you will receive 1 additional mail message Sunday nights. This message will be a compliation of all the messages that week. This also means if you hate to see all that mail in your inbox you can subscribe just to the digest and get 1 long mail message per week instead of individual ones. If you want to be subscribed to both lists you need to send an additional message to majordomo@teleport.com with SUBSCRIBE GUILD-L-DIGEST {then your email address} in the message body. This will put you on both lists. If you then wish to remove yourself from guild-l send another message to majordomo@teleport.com with UNSUBSCRIBE GUILD-L in the message body. If you are having any problems with any of this just email me directly (apeiros@tleport.com or owner-guild-l@teleport.com) with want you would like and I'll take care of it. However, I will support whatever decision you make. Personally, I've been looking to put on some weight, to better handle all the damage that seems to come my way. IMO it's probably about a +5/10% at light, nothing at average, and -5/10% at heavy. Dodging types would benefit from reducing their weight. Also the amount of damage you can take is reduced but nothing to dramatic. If your character isn't a tank design it probably won't hurt her to reduce her weight. However if your character is parrying I'd suggest not decreasing your weight. If you reduce your weight and parry you'll have an increased likelihood of being knocked down. Also being big/heavy doesn't hamper your ability to parry as much as it does dodge. >From what I've seen/heard armor doesn't affect your ability to dodge as long as you're not encumbered. For example last turn Brother Battlewise went solo to Isurus he was 95+% dodging (about 40 defenses, 100% try to dodge). He wears plate, great, buckler, longsword. Of course dodging things like Smelly Hobgoblin/Rotting Zombies are much easier then something like a Bandit Lord or Infernal Warrior. ;-) BB is average weight/height. Eventually I'll start parrying again with him (when I get Int. Parry and strength goes up a few more pts) so I'm staying at average weight. I am more concerned with Sonya's dodging skill since it seems to be her weakest combat ability. Anything with claws tears right into her, and Int. Parry seems useless; she attempts to dodge "natural" attacks all the time, and rarely succeeds wearing plate, light helm, med. shield and mace/sword. That is with 100% parry for defense. The Int.Parry (1) works well for weapon attacks though. I do like her ability to absorb alot of damage so a weight change may not be the way to go. Mike PS: From Sonya: Cow? COW?! Bastard of the Spear Sonya and all parryers, I think that the intel parry skill needs a small change. What kind of change you say? A small one. We parryers need to have the option to parry 100% with no chance to dodge. The only way I know how to do this is to turn intel parry off. This doesn't seem fair with the new disarming and weapon controling that I beleive, intel parry plays a factor in. I am going to try to persuade Hugh, into giving us the option to parry 100% and keep intel parry on. Then whats the true function of intel parry? It could still be used for the "original" design, lets your character decide on whether to dodge or parry, but I beleive with the new setting I (in cooperation with Jeff {Dergus}) propose, intel parry becomes more intelligent because now you are setting up a strategy specifically designed for dis-arming and controling opponents weapons. You'd never have this chance while dodging. If you like this idea, send all your gold and items to me or Dergus .... no, no, no.... Just write Hugh a heart-warming note about how beautiful SpearBastard is ... no,no,no... Write Hugh and ask for an enhancement to intel parry, Parry 100%.
