Quest Digest 21/6/96 From: ">>-Josh->" <J.P.Gallagher@durham.ac.uk> Date: Fri, 21 Jun 1996 00:00:00 +0000 ___ _ / _ \ | | 21st day of the 6th month | |_| |UEST__| |IGEST of the year of our lord 1996 \__ | / _ | | |_ | |_| | An e-mail discussion forum for the fantasy |_ / \___/ play by mail game; "Quest". Compiled by Josh Gallagher. J.P.Gallagher@durham.ac.uk o This isn't one of those automatic list thingies, so could all articles be sent clearly marked with paragraphs initialled to me. o If you want off the list, just say! No hassle, no pressure. o All material here is the exclusive property of the author and may not be used elsewhere without their permission. ___ / _ \ Not all that long a Digest this week, due, I think, to the | __/DITORIAL amount of students finishing the year and collecting results, \___| etc. Just as a bit of a note about this, I found out recently that this email account will die on July 31st. As yet I don't have another email address, but this will change soon. I will tell you all the new address to send your contributions to once I know it. If you are leaving university and won't be seeing the Digest (or what there is of it) over the summer, you can find out the new email address by looking for the latest edition of the Digest in the rec.games.pbm newsgroup, to which each edition is posted. I'll be moving my website to geocities soon too, hopefully, and that will contain my latest email address. Anyway, on with the actual Digest! Thanks to those that _have_ contributed to this edition. As an attempt to get a bit more input going, I'd like to try and compose a list of bugs/cheats in the game that could be fixed. As an initial list, I suggest: 1) Raise maximum cash a character can carry 2) Fix the inconsistent way in which weapon skill is assigned to new fighter recruits 3) Bugs about many items in one location? Anyone with further information? JPG> If anyone else has any suggestions; alterations or additions, just send them in and I'll print the email and edit the list. And now on with the articles! -------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Skeltem@aol.com Date: Sat, 15 Jun 1996 02:22:10 -0400 PK> Hi folks, back again. >>ES> About horses; What would happen to them when you go underground? > >PN> If you go underground you can either exchange them for a 'chit' at >the nearest blacksmith or try and hide them with a H 99 <horses> 0 order >- remember mounts are just items that allow you to move further. > PK> So the Fleyshur's Gift trick can be done with them also? Anyway, as my victim never responded I'd like to know what happens when you curse items with the miracle. I was only told that would be bad for the group. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Robert Jones <robert@hamilcar.demon.co.uk> Date: Fri, 14 Jun 1996 21:10:15 +0100 RJ> I have just started playing Quest and would like to hear from any other players in KJC game 13. RJ> My party is going under the nom de guerre of Blue Rose Knights and they are currently in the town of Bodaco where the inns seem to be very unfriendly. RJ> If there is a history for this game I would be very grateful for a copy and I would also like to hear from any alliances recruiting in this game. RJ> If I can help anyone with information from Bodaco I will but I dont have much as my group is only three turns old -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Wed, 19 Jun 1996 10:36:39 +0200 (CES) From: ui99@rz.uni-karlsruhe.de (Roland Ottl) RO> This might sound stupid, especially in the light that I play Quest for more than 6 years now, BUT...Somebody (DR ?) talked about fighter skill 70+. How did you get that ? Only temporary by 301, or permanent by lots (LOTS !) of potions ? What exactly is the border in order to get two/three attacks per melee ? Even though my fighters have 50+ they only have two attacks. RO> To NB actually: please send me info for that new PBM of yours. Playtesting might be fun. Roland Ottl *** eMail ui99@rz.uni-karlsruhe.de -------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Mystery Contributor Date: Tue, 18 Jun 96 The Flames of Fury are at Duequinten town (7). JPG> Well, I was requested to keep the name of the contributor under wraps for fear of retribution. :) The info is for Game 14 players actually. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- JPG> As I said, not many, but it's quality not quantity, right? ;) Until next time folks, happy Questing and for KJC players; my sympathies are with you regarding the postal strike. >>-Josh-> "You can't always get what you want, But if you try sometimes, you just might find, you get what you need" -- Rolling Stones Up
