I'm following up to this article to

(1) reinforce the fact that there have been some major
    problems; for two months or some my provider, listed
    in USA Today as #2 amongst its class ("access providers")
    for web site visiting, has had major hardware and software
    upgrade problems, horrible problems it says with its
    Network Access Provider (out of Chicago), more h/w and
    s/w problems, now major problems again with an NAP, a
    second one to provide backup to the first one.  I'm
    wondering and hoping that's the problem that brings up
    #2:

(2) to hopefully find out what on earth is going on with
    pbm'ers:

mclain, xanadu, bking1, sailorjn.

As you can see below, I have nowhere to turn to see
what on earth is going on, except here.

Month-and-a-half ago or so, two things happened on
these 'pages':

(A) I posted a request for play-testers for a PBeM
secret word logic game,

bking1 and sailorjn filled in some minimum
    info and I sent them their first turn sheet
    and the word list.  No response.  I followed
    up a week plus later, asking if they'd got
    it.  No response.  Another followup, and
    sailorjn responded on news that he'd gotten
    nothing. I resent the material. No response.
    No response, No response.  All followups
    and postings being quite appreciative.

i. both signed up by direct email so there
      was no comm problem there.
    11. sailorjn's article-response showed he
      got that mail, so why not respond to me
      directly?  What kind of thinking was
      behind that?

mclain volunteered the offer of room on his pages.
I wrote very thankfully and praisefully.

I had to think about what the material should be
posted there and then wrote asking for info on
just what form/how to do what he was suggesting.

He just passed it on to his pbm-forum with no
answer/response.

Later I wrote again asking, thanking, praising,
etc.

No response.

Etc.

(B) xanadu posted an article saying how pleased he'd be
to put game moderators on his powerful site.  I
responded with great gratitude and appreciation
directly to him, and posted an article with praise
(his name is  Oberfield, and I said "Oberfield could
not be oberpraised").

No response.  After a week plus, I asked if he
    had gotten my email; again thankful, etc.

No response. Later, another try, this and maybe
    the previous being apologetic for emailing and
    explaining the obvious: you can't tell what is
    going on if you aren't told.

QUESTION: am I and these guys just victims of 'net
	  problems or are they just that way?

The most recent happening, a week ago now, was
that I was writing a note to ficweb-talk which
is about intentional community, and I was bemoaning
my not fitting, and discussing poverty, etc.

Very late on a day when I was trying to get
my sleep cycle adjusted because of a business
trip I was starting that coming AM many hours
before I usually get up, I mentioned the way
these folks were acting - no names - and at
the last moment decided to cc those four since
they were the ones in  question.

Several folk didn't see the cc when they re-
sponded so those 'poor' folk got a bunch of
the ficweb articles, and began deluging ficweb
with inappropriate cancellation requests.

Inappropriate because all they had to do was
note the cc, which was what was causing the
problem itself!

mclain figured out that I was responsible for
the problem and wrote saying that if I didn't
do something about it he was going to cut off
communications with me!!  Because I didn't re-
spond in the two days I was out of town!  Versus
over a month for him versus me!

I immediately wrote and told a truth: how sorry
I was that the cc had ended up getting him such
unwanted mail, etc, and explained both the fact
of the many emails he had not responded to, once
again giving thanks, expressing amazement that
he thought NOW he'd cut me off.

And, of course, four-five days later still no
response!

Ditto for xanadu/Oberfield.

Are these guys just natural jerks, or what?

Would some of you check and see if there is
any claim on their part that I had done some-
thing wrong?  Done something not appreciative
and thankful? That they only got mail that
somehow made it impossible to respond to?

I am, of course, completely inable to know
what is going on, while/if they are being
non-communicative jerks, and would remain
not able to tell unless they become comm-
unicative jerks!

Or, if the problem is the net problems, how
is it that appreciative mail/news that
obviously has gotten through has also been
treated non-responsively?
