INTERSTELLAR NEWS BRIEFS

DATELINE Cor-Caroli, July 15 - More destruction occurs as ALF forces raid
a
stellar shipyard in the Macovia system, making off with 3 large freight
vessels. In the ensuing chase by local government troops, one of the
stolen
ships crashed in the heart of Macovia's technology center. The vessel,
appropriately named Big Bertha, was loaded to the hilt with high-tech
explosives. The blast destroyed several factories and killed over 3,200
citizens, and many are still missing. It has not been determined whether
the
crash was due to mechanical difficulties or was a deliberate suicide
attempt.

DATELINE Draak, July 17 - Production levels off while the native Gecko
people
prepare for the possibility of war. Local planetary systems have shown
support
for the Kochabans, and the Imperial Navy has begun to send ships to the
area
in an attempt to stabilize relations. More news to come as the situation
develops.

DATELINE Jo Jumba, July 20 - Jo Jumba technology continues to remain a
strong
economic force in the Polaris system, with exports at an all time high and

growing. Several megafreighters have been sent from Cor-Caroli to
transport
excess high-tech goods back to the planet.

DATELINE Jetravartl, July 21 - The Arcturus Mining Company discovered
major
titanium and rare metal deposits on the small moon Incarsia. They were
utilizing a new deep-space satellite to detect mineral deposits on
Jetravartl,
but because of a programming error, the satellite was mistakenly aimed at
Incarsia. "It one of those things!" said Rhesian Chief Engineer Rhoula
Matokin, who made the error. "It good thing I have 2 martini lunch, yes?"
he
said. Plans to begin mining and transport of the valuable cargo are set
for
next week.
