Gentlemen , duty calls . We seek experienced and motivated offizieres to take part in forthcoming operations . To give you all a better understanding I will here present a report on our last operation . On May 25th 1944 there was an unsuccessful German raid on Marshall Tito called Knight's Move or Rosselsprung . We were not part of that operation . Just a few days after German intelligens gained information placing Marshall Tito on Lastovo Island in the Adriatic on 5th of June the same year . Efforts were made to scrape together a force for a second operation , which was called "Grille" or cricket . The mission was a with Knight's Move to capture of at least kill Marshall Tito . I , from Norway , was assigned to lead the raid . With me I had three other members of our web club , all from USA . Greer to lead our SS units . Miller to lead our Croatian forces . And Richardson to command the Luftwaffe . As always the webpage at http://labwww.csv.cmich.edu/greer/redfury/ was our supplier of info and maps . Lastovo has a small airfield nearby and is the largest town. Ubli and Skrivena Luka are small fishing villages connected to Lastovo by roads as shown. The km between Lastovo and ubli is 9km and between Lastovo and Skrivena Luka 4km. The interior is rolling, with Mt. Hum (shown with the &) at 417meter height. It is the highest point on the island. There are smaller islands off both sides of Lastovo. Intelligence info told us that there was suitable beaches for landings near Lastovo , the castle (NW corner) , Ubli and Skrivena Luka . Ubli and Skrivena Luka also had small fishing boat harbors. We knew we could encounter powerful Allied air and sea elements . The task was to find a way to conduct Grille even in the face of superior enemy air and naval forces . It was unclear if they would help our the enemy at the crucial time , so we needed to take some risks . The Partisans themselves had an airfield on the island , and we decided we wanted capture that to make things a bit easier on us . Names was set to code .
