Fed up with PBeM (well nearly) From: John Yeung <j.yeung@dial.pipex.com> Date: Sat, 24 Aug 1996 00:00:00 +0000 Hello, I really dont know where to begin, I am new to Role playing. So new in fact that I haven't managed to join any PBeM's. It all started when I entered a tall dark building, and my friend introduced me to MUD which he told me is a easy to play RPG. I become addicted to the wonderful world of RPG. The following two weeks I saved up enough Credits to buy A V34 Modem. I connected to my ISP and began my Role playing on MUD. I was a happy man. I discovered Newsgroups, WWW and eMail. I was hooked, My life seemed to change all because of the idea of Role Playing. I really wanted to take up this Hobby for the Pure fun of it. I now feel totally Sad, and fed up with the whole thing. I turned into a cold man and no longer talk. After posting messages to various PBeM GM's I have not been accepted. I pieced together all the feedback and I ask you 'Is there really no room for New inexperienced PC's in Role Playing?' This cannot be true, I know it can't. But from the kind of feed back i've been getting it seems that it is. Some mail back saying I need to be more experienced.. thanks for your interest.. wish you luck in finding one.. you need a copy of the Hand Book (i think i know what that is)....and so on....Some haven't even bothered to mail back in weeks. I realize that thier are various forms of RPG, i.e Minitures, PbeM, snail Mail.. ect. And alot require players to have Hand Books..dices..ect. I won't buy any of these simply cos I don't know if i need these resources. I picked up 'Dragon' & 'Arcane' RPG Mags.. and they seem to have no info for beginners. I really wonder if it is really worth pursueing this interest... and just stick to MUD. ----------------------------------------------------------- I really would like to Join a PBeM and learn more about RPG, especially by EMail..If anyone out there would like a inexperienced Player then feel free to contact me... I use my email everyday..ect... IF NOT Is it possible to beome a 'Lurker' and recieve mail about how your RPG progresses. If it is not any trouble then please do so. I still feel interested in RPG, although i've had no luck (you know it's become kinda like Job hunting except the markets smaller and competition is fierce And theres no room for Newbies) I hope by Lurking I'll learn more about Role Playing....I need Experience .. My search continues.... Many thanx, John Yeung J.Yeung@dial.pipex.com Sorry if I have wasted your time... Referenced By Up
