Depends.  If you want free roleplaying PBeM, I can unbiasedly
recommend the Phoenyx lists :}.  We don't keep listings of
non-Phoenyx PBeM, aside from the pbem-announce-L list (which is
only as 'up-to-date' as PBeM hosters care to keep it).

Aside from that, there's www.pbem.com, unless that's the "dead"
list you're talking about.  It hadn't died when I last checked,
but it's been awhile.
