Ric ric@digital-animations.co.uk Brotherhood Press Agent Deveron ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Those who take an interest in the actions of the White Lotus kung-fu school in Helsicke have reported that the infamous kung-fu master, Lu Bu, has not been seen in quite some time. No one is sure when exactly he was last seen, but a few sources have reported he was on the first longboat to sail out of Helsicke. Where that boat is now, and what Lu Bu is doing, no one is quite sure. Anyone who does encounter him though, should be extremely careful, as he is not only one of the most skilled White Lotus masters, he is undoubtedly the most violent. When asked about Lu Bu's whereabouts, and if he was indeed on that ship, the head of the school, Cao Cao, refused to comment. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The attack was perfectly planned. All of the guards of AeBrey were caught by complete surprise. The mages quickly threw a few ball of fire incinerating most of the guards. The rest were cut down by regular troops. Smoking corpses marked where the guards had met there doom. After looting the bodies for swords the troops began to celebrate in the town square. They deserved this time to celebrate as this was the first population center captured. Orders came the next day to prepare for a new campaign. This campaign would be to capture all neutral population centers in as short as time as possible. This victory over AeBrey made this possible. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ A wind blows in Helsickl... Tremble before the mighty GALE! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ farsight [FARS] 1: A mage with the Farsight skill may obtain region reports on distant regions. This skill only works on the surface of Atlantis, but the report will be as if the mage was in the region himself. The mage may view regions [that] are within 4 times the mage's skill level squared regions of the mage's region. To use this skill, CAST Farsight REGION <x> <y>, where <x> and <y> are the coordinates of the region that you wish to view. For a new faction, just getting started in the wilderness, the knowledge of one's surroundings is of paramount importance. Locating a favorable mix of terrain types, pinpointing those lucrative population centers, and those pesky monster lairs, can mean the difference between success and a restart. To that end the Farsight spell is indespensible. From the spell description above it is clear that a level one mage can cast Farsight on a region as much as four hexes distant from his position, thus allowing him to determine the terrain of regions five hexes distant, as each region report shows the terrain of all adjacent regions. This gives the level one mage the ability to scout a hexagon of 91 regions, including the one he's standing in. Proper use of Farsight will save a wise player a great deal of money that would otherwise be spent on actual living scouts. Single man units used for scouting are too expensive (averaging probably 60+ silver per man), move too slowly, and are vulnerable to everything hostile in the Atlantis world. A faction just starting to carve out its empire would do well to save every man it has for taxing while the mages have a look around. By the time the faction has a few regions being fully taxed, and the makings of a proper army assembled, the information gathered by Farsight will make it easy to decide just where to strike to the faction's best advantage. Remember, CAST is not a month long task and therefore does not impede on a mage's study time. Just trying to be helpful, Bruce R. The saltly breeze blew in off the ocean and caressed his face, not unlike the soft caress of his lover. His white teeth showed as a wide smile spread across his face as he thought of her. The crash of the waves brought him back to the present. He took a step forward into the water, until the waves was lapping over the toes of his boots. He squatted down and dug a handful of wet sand from under the water. He let the mud slowly slip through his fingers back into the water, creating a muddy cloud in the water about his feet. He washed the leftover mud off his hands and stood up. He turns his head to the left and slowly pans back to the right, letting his gaze encompass all the water. Ghostly images appear on the water, his imagination overlaying dreams onto reality. He saw shadowy clippers cutting through the waves heading out to see. Misty galleons sit at anchor, rolling in the waves as transparent longboats ferry cargo and people out the mammoth ships. Lars nodded as if agreeing with his imagination. Wiping his hands odry on his pants, he turned and walked away from the sea to seek out able-bodied men. Soon all that was left of Lars' ruminations was a path of footprints in the wet sand.
