I disagree.  Language is not necessarily sound. and writing is the
bearer of language.  Sound is a wave (or series) and thus writing or
the alphabet doesn't carry that.  Writing carries ideas, thoughts, and
expressions and can be used to convey how a sound should be shaped in
the form of music, but it is not a conveyor for sound.

Wasn't there a horn used in the Two Towers and in RoK?  I don't
remember now...
