Galaxy: Maps? From: bluddo@netcom.com (Austin ) Date: Sat, 21 Sep 1996 00:00:00 +0000 Greetings, I'm looking for a good method of formulating maps for strategical analysis. I use Goggle 2.5 (Highest version I know of) for turn interpretations, but the map window is QUITE small, at most half the screen, and it is hard to get a larger picture. The program floating about that translates a map into a gnuplot program is great, but I know of no way to zoom into a specific area, so it's next to useless with a ton of planets and 30+ players in the game. I've never been able to get xgalaxy to work, that would be optimal, but I am open to other suggestions. Unix-based preferred, ASCII maps alright if workable (I find lgplot.c and plot.c hard to work with), X11 capable. I've heard a rumor of being able to translate a map to postscript.. this concept causes me to salivate, because it's then possible I could print out a landscape-style map of several pages and tape them to a strip of paperboard, for my pen-marking pleasure throughout the game. -- Alex Feely -- ====================================================================== The Microsoft Network is prohibited from redistributing this work in any form, in whole or in part.
