New game, in prototype, needs test players From: tenny@games.ultranet.com (Dave Tenny) Date: Thu, 19 Sep 1996 00:00:00 +0000 First, apologies for posting to vga-planets and stars, but I'm having trouble finding aggressive space-based pbem players, believe it or not. On the other hand, I do my best to scare away anybody who doesn't love this stuff. I have a new space based pbem in prototype. This is truly prototype. There are few tools, but all the basic infrastructure is in, and I'm adding features based on player experiences. You can help in the creation of a new game with your play and feedback. There are no GUIs, no frills. It's ascii turnsheets for now. Anybody with an email account can play this game. I need 6-8 replacement players for those who have been unable to keep up so far in the prototype game. You'll get turnsheets almost nightly, and a fair bit of discussion in the test player distribution list. It's a one-man fly-by-night operation, but I'm as dedicated as anybody you've ever met, this game has been in the works for nearly 6 years. My only real caveat is that I don't want players who have commercial interests in other games. I'd like my game to get off the ground before my few worthwhile ideas are cloned in other games. If you're interested in playing, please visit the web site if possible, at http://www.ultranet.com/~tenny/tenn.shtml. There's a link there which provides a signup form. Some of the material is out of date, most of it is accurate. If you're unable to web, you can send me mail at tenny@games.ultranet.com. For any signup request, I need: Full name Full postal mail address Email addresses telephone number If you're signing up for the prototype replacement game, as opposed to a future alpha or beta game, I also need mail under separate cover with: Player codename selection for your player Player empire codename selection for your empire A paragraph about yourself. I may not be able to use the empire codename, since this is a replacement slot, but it's possible. This isn't spam, it isn't for any marketing purpose, your names and info are not distributed. I just need 6-8 die-hard gamers for some the chaotic beginnings of a new pbem. I've done this before, and players have had lots of fun. Most of the 20-something players in the game have played my games before. If you've already signed up, and haven't heard from me, then I've had difficulty mailing to you. The problem is, I can never tell when my outbound mail meets with network black holes, and when it meets with players who weren't as interested as they thought they were. Hope to shoot you soon!
