General-PBM Sites Different: How? From: casbahcarl@aol.com (CasbahCarl) Date: Thu, 17 Oct 1996 00:00:00 +0000 I've collected all the comments that have come so far regarding the general-interest pbm sites on the Web. I don't have the URLs for a couple of them and the description I got on a few is not very substantive. Perhaps others could help fill in some info? Again, my main interest was determining how (if at all) the general pbm sites differed from one another and which audiences they focused on. They're listed in alphabetical order: PBMCom ( ? ) ^^^^^^^^^^^^ A nice-looking site with a very comprehensive list of games and is nicely laid out. Some features, however, are not functional or suffer from minimal traffic. PBMGAMES ( ? ) ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ A very complete listing of companies and games in the pbm industry, nicely indexed. PBMNET (http://www.gamenet.demon.co.uk) ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ The site aims to provide general information on all aspects of "multi-player gaming", with a special focus on introducing new people to the hobby. This new site promises to be very comprehensive and exhibits great potential. PBMWeb ( ? ) ^^^^^^^^^^^^ Promises to be a fine site to look for player opinions on games, current news of what's happening and about to happen, game tips, etc. Tightbeam (http://www.tightbeam.com) ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Tightbeam is an excellent site to locate rulebooks and GM's home pages. I didn't include Greg's site, because I figure he already gets all the promo anyone could possibly want. ;) Thanks to the following for providing comments in response to my original question: Phil Shulkind (phil@phildee.demon.co.uk) Steve Walker (summit@easynet.co.uk) Dave Wells (webmaster@pbmnet.com) - Chuck +-----------------------------------------------------------+ Sol-Rac Orim's Monster Island Rest Stop http://users.aol.com/casbahcarl/MIhome.html +-----------------------------------------------------------+ Up
