New Blind Galaxy Games starting From: bampton@cs.utk.edu (Howard the Energizer) Date: Tue, 05 Nov 1996 00:00:00 +0000 I will be starting 3 Blind Galaxy games shortly (turn 0 reports will go out around the 13th of November). See: http://www.pbm.com/~lindahl/pbm.html for details about what blind galaxy is. All three will be using the options I typically use in my games: K commands will be allowed. Version 3 compatibility mode, Fleets (UPGRADE), Carryover, and Partial Techs. Game 1 will be a slow game, with 2 turns per week for the first two weeks (4 turns), and 1 turn per week thereafter. This game will be known as Uranus. The galaxy's size will be about 200 ly. Game 2 will be a fast game, with 2 turns per week (possibly slowing down to 1 turn per week after turn 50). This game will be known as Hermes. The galaxy's size will be about 200 ly. Game 3 will be a fast game, with 2 turns per week (possibly slowing down to 1 turn per week after turn 50). This game will be known as Nike. The galaxy's size will be as small as I can make it (possibly <120 ly) while still giving players 20 light years or more between homeworlds. There will be around 400 systems. Notes: There will be no more than 3 players per site, 2 if the game has fewer than 20 players (Exception: large ISP's such as Netcom might be allowed to exceed this). There are obvious ways to get around this, but please honor the spirit. Turns will run on Tuesdays and Fridays, around 8AM Eastern USA time. This is 13:00 GMT for those more accustomed to that time zone. These games are expected to last at least a year, and will run about 50 weeks out of the year. I am aiming for 20 to 30 players in each game. At present, Hermes and Uranus both have about 10. Nike has about 5. To sign up, please mail me (one message per game, one player per message), your choice of empire names, the game you wish to play in, and an email @ to send reports to (if different than the sending one).
