Everything the Empire needs to convict you (and summarily execute you) rests within a small safe within your cell. Your weapon: One computer with access to the internet. Your competition: Nine other players who are also suspected traitors, all within their cozy cell. Your goal: Convince the Emperor that the other players are guilty BEFORE they do the same to you. The catch: Every single one of you is a traitor. In BETRAYAL, you play the role of a detained ruler of a province under the Empire. You must use your meager information (different for every player) to gain more information and subsequently send enough evidence to the Emperor of another player's guilt. The winner is the last one left. Your only weapon is email. You use information and email messages to the other players to learn the combinations to your enemies' safes. Your wits are the key: lie, threaten, promise, cajole, seduce. This is a true, role-playing game where only your diplomacy can help you survive. There are no turns in Betrayal.
