MEPBM: Riddle for the Riddle-meisters! From: Jeff Dobberpuhl <attorney@mr.net> Date: Fri, 06 Dec 1996 00:00:00 +0000 Ok Gang. Its time for another round of "What did GSI mean?" Here is the riddle o' the week.... Out of dark Mirkwood he was said to come Selected nevertheless tho not as mighty as some. A good fellow was he, a lover of tree, Who waited til third's end to sail o'er sea. I can only spot 3 possible answers. 1) Gandalf. (or Mithrandir?) He -went- to dark Mirkwood to investigate Dol Goldur, and left at the end of the third age. But he is not a Tree Lover. 2) Legolas. This fits on all counts, except Tolkien in Appendix B says Legolas sailed during the 4th age, not 3rd. 3) Radagast. I'd pick him, but I don't think he ever sailed back. Any ideas?
