The GNS staff has been working extremely hard to get this out right away, so make sure you read it! There have been a number of changes, some detailed here, and others left for you to discover for yourself. Make sure you visit the web site to see the additions made there, including a stock market ticker and the new Guild Enlistment Office. It's where all you Interstellar Traders' Union members can either join another guild or leave them behind altogether. No more dues! Well, no more benefits, either. It's your choice! Also, please be so kind as to sign the new guestbook, and enjoy the new format for many of the pages, especially if you are using Internet Explorer 3.0. If you are not using I.E. 3.0, please let me know what you are using and why. New Rocket Launchers Installed - Astin & Marley Space Shipyards on Earth and elsewhere across The Core have finished distribution and installation of over 100,000 new level 1 rocket launchers. The promotion included a free X-Missile, courtesy of The Imperial Bureau Of The Navy. The spaceship system is similar to other systems in that it can be modified and repaired at standard facilities. But that's where the similarities end. Rockets are needed to make the device functional, and deadly in combat. Two rocket types were available at press time. The X-Missile, the most common and least devastating of the two, is 12,250 QPs and is slated as Ship Item #1. The more deadly ammunition is the 24,000 QP Proteon Rocket, listed as #2. Also available is the ECM1, an electronic counter measure projectile that can be a good defense against incoming rocket attacks. It is Ship Item #8, and costs 25,000 QPs. Other rockets and ship items are in development in various areas throughout The Core, and rumors of Brogian and Rhesian-Zephyr projects abound. See the new OS order and the Rocket Launcher section on Ship Systems in the latest rulebook for more details. Rash Of New Ship Models Arrives - In an effort to expand the low-end starship market, dozens of new ship models have been seen everywhere in The Core. Ship builders such as Simms, Luxar and Pangeat all have new designs in the space lanes, and more are coming soon. Recent breakthroughs in many stellar vehicle technologies has raised the limit of ship component physics to the 7th level. That, coupled with the new rocket launcher, has spawned a renewed interest in the spacecraft marketplace. Cargo Shortages & Surpluses Drop - In an effort to increase their profit margins, the United Vegetable Traders passed a resolution that reduces the vast changes in cargo values based on local supply. "Amount paid for fruit was much very big!" said Gr'oknarp Phezzigh, a Brogian warehouse manager from El-Nath. "Become making local markets very unstable.", he added. Analysts say it won't be long before other unions follow suit, including The Galactic Brotherhood Of Spacedock Workers and Interstellar Slave Labor. Contracts with these unions alter surplus cargo from 1/2 cost to 75% of cost, and shortages will now bring in 25% extra instead of double. Troublesome Traders Pay Hefty Fines - O.K... you've just come back from a long trip and your crew is rowdy, restless and ready for some R&R. What do you do? What can you do? Nothing. Blowing off steam is a good way for your team to be ship-shape for their next assignment. However, there is a downside to this.
