New PBM game: Conquest of Affinity [commercial epic fantasy] From: lindahl@rt.com (Greg Lindahl) Date: Fri, 31 Jan 1997 00:00:00 +0000 Name: Conquest of Affinity [commercial epic fantasy] Email: pmouchet@godling.com Type: Fantasy War Game (Strategy/Diplomacy) Cost: $25.00 per game Duration: Closed, approximately 100 turns Frequency: 1 turn per week (can vary from game to game) GM: Computer Moderated Kywords: commercial, closed-ended, email, gui, fantasy, wargame Last Update: 1997Jan25 Description: On the mythical planet of Affinity, magic has all but died. The only known remnants of magic lay in the creatures that have survived the Battle of Chaos. The gods have seemingly fled, rendering the few remaining priests somewhat ... sterile. Nonetheless, the wars rage on. Military strength and diplomacy rule where magic and divine intervention once prevailed. Conquest of Affinity (COA) is a multi-player (2000 players per game), play-by-e-mail (PBeM) game set in medieval times on the fantasy world of Affinity. As its name suggests, the game is one of conquest and global domination. Each player commands up to 100 tokens (armies and/or locations) to help promote his/her kingdom to victory. All players are a member of a kingdom. There are 31 different kingdoms to choose from. Since the game supports so many players, it has been designed such that players can join in at any time. COA is a true play-by-email game of a distinctly different nature. The game is played purely through a graphical, traditional game-style interface. There are no forms to fill out and their are no "human" game masters to deal with. COA is fully 100% computer moderated. To save me from going on and on about the game's description and merits, why don't you come and see for yourself. Download the software and rulebook free of charge. Try it out. If you like it (and we know you will) join in the fun and mayhem. Don't forget to check out the details on the House Game.
