Rimworlds II From: John Pritchard <gangster@email.unc.edu> Date: Fri, 14 Feb 1997 00:00:00 +0000 Hmmm. I just thought I would pass along this little tidbit. Last summer I sent a substantial check (well, it was more than $10) to Jon Ogden for rules and setup in his Rimworlds game. I was home for the summer (I'm a college student) and thought I had left plenty of time (well over six weeks-- it may have been more) for him to send out my info. Well, time passed and it got uncomfortably close to the deadline for when I would be moving back to school. So I picked up the phone and called Ogden to inquire about my stuff, ask perhaps if my check had been lost in the mail. (I knew this wasn't the case, as my bank had already returned the cashed check to me, but I thought it was nicer than saying "what's taking so long?") Ogden first said he hadn't got the check yet. Then, he told me he had, but his wife had entered my name as "John Daren" instead of "John Pritchard". Daren is my middle name and is printed on my checks. Still, I thought this was odd, because he still should have sent the rules and set-up-- if it had come to the name "John Daren" at my address I still would have figured out what it was. At any rate, he told me that he would send my package in a few days. Well, I never heard from him again. I had asked friends and they told me his was the best pbm space opera, and I was impressed by his ad. Still, this remains the only instance in a long history I have with pbm that I have been blatantly ripped off.
