Last Empire From: etsky@ci.ua.pt (J. Branco) Date: Tue, 25 Mar 1997 00:00:00 +0000 The Last Empire is a new commercial PBeM game. So, what else is new? Well... Many games, even good games, may have nice graphics, easy gameplay, and even a nice package. But sooner or later one get's tired of them, because once you find all its secrets, they just loose interest. Or simply the game evolution is balanced in a way that one player soon controls everything and the game has to end. The Last Empire has not a nice visual interface, no sir. On the other hand once you get used to it it is perfect. (A visual interface is under development and will be ready in the next 3 months, nevertheless, for those who also judge a book by it's covers ;) ) It is not easy to start, nor even to play. You will sweat every second of gameplay at start. But it simply never ends... It goes on and on an on. It is like life itself, You'll start playing when you die. You watch nations become powers, and years (yes, YEARS) after fall apart and decay like a rotten empire, merely to rise again years after in a neverendig story of galactic intrigue and diplomacy. It has full player support, yes, everyone of you can discuss each strategy, by email, with the Game Master which will help you decide (make will not make decisions for you). A game where there is a sense of "community" between players. Many people became friends in player meetings which happen regularly on its origin country. And there is even the odd case or two where a boy met his girl while playing the game, strange but true :). It is not a game to play and forget, you have to sit down, relax, and study it, but if you, like me, are a perfectionist and see more in a game than just having fun, but also a daring challenge, this is the game for you. Try it out, but I do not recommend the Game to anyone, I don't like to sell things, I just invite you to look at it, download the rulesbook, take a look and see if you like it, if it is not your type of game, thank you for your visit, anyway. If it is than play it and enjoy it until your hundredth aniversary :) (or more), I will be always there expanding the game every turn, for the players joy. try: http://www.lastempire.com J.
