[PBeM] Westwind II: Furry Swords & Sorcery From: silver@phoenyx.net (Karen J. Cravens) Date: Sat, 22 Mar 1997 00:00:00 +0000 At the oasis of Seven Palms, a young Jerboa nomad chitters with frustration at a balky annat. The huge armoured beast ignores his vigorous switch-strokes and the prod of the goad. With a loud huff, it starts digging into the earth ... Deep in the Sere Massif, northern and most bitter region of the Drylands, an Addax antelope tribesman sniffs the air and watches the clouds roll east. Again this year the west wind comes, pushing clouds sweet with rain, but again no rain falls ... Camped on the caravan-road to Elya'es, a Jackal merchant awakes with a start in the night as a black-and-white striped Zorilla brigand pushes into his tent, torch and dagger in hand... In the market of Mulki, City of the Tents, Oasis in the Drylands, the Cheetah captain paces nervously as her guardsmen clear away the crowds and succour their fallen comrades. A broken fetter is the only trace of the escaped prisoner. The captain pants in the afternoon heat, dreading the report she must give ... In the austere white-walled palace of Mulki, a crowd of supplicants queue up patiently, sipping sherbet as they await the Califa's pleasure. Within her audience chamber, the Camel matriarch grows irritated at the innumerable complaints, and waits for a messenger bringing confirmation of the execution she has ordered ... Westwind II: Oasis, a Play-by-Email roleplaying game set in Westwind, a world of anthropomorphic animals, is now accepting players. In an exotic land of swords-and-sorcery, timid Gerbil city-dwellers, nomadic Gazelle tribesfolk, quick-tempered Camel sheykhs, renegade Lion priests, and wily Jackal merchants all must strive to chart a safe course through troubled times as drought and unrest threaten the rule of the Califa.
