Andy's idea about developers not writing for Microsoft OS's is not well
though out ... at all.

1. Developers write to earn a living.

2. The VAST MAJORITY of their PC customers are using a version of Windows.

3. Only very stupid people actively avoid their largest potential market.

4. NO developer is planning on missing his next house payment because a
few people on here have a burr in their backside about Microsoft's
position in the marketplace. LOL

I can tell you that without question, as a developer and consultant on
microcomputers since their inception, that the world is a LOT easier place
to develop software in, and software is easier for customers to learn and
use, because of the standarization of applications along Windows
standards.

Before Windows, EVERY productivity application was a week long fight with
a documentation book to learn how get anything substatantial accomplished
with it. With Windows apps, everyone that's used one for any period of
time is able to get into new apps and be production with most of their
functions literally within a few minutes.

This is what computers are for, to save you time, not to force you to
undertake a new learning curve every time you need a new program.

Frankly, Microsoft has done more to make computer programs easy to use due
to standardization than all other software firms put together ... but then
that it the key ... other software firms aren't all put together. Until
Windows popularized standard formats, each company went their own way with
interfaces and functionality.

Also, since Microsoft apps started to dominate the market, the price of
apps have come steadily down ... or am I the only one that remembers $500
word processors.
