Blind Galaxy 2.46 Released From: bampton@cs.utk.edu (Howard the Energizer) Date: Fri, 18 Apr 1997 00:00:00 +0000 I've released Blind Galaxy 2.46. It has, as usual, both a number of bug fixes, and some new features. [And do doubt a new bug or two...] Blind Galaxy should compile out of the box, with minimal effort, on: Linux (x86 and Sparc) Sun4's running 4.1.3-4.1.4, and Solaris 2.5 or later Sun3's running SunOS 4.1.1_U1 Ultrix 4.4, IRIX 5.3 and 6.2 (native cc only), AIX 3.2.5, OSF/1 4.0, HPUX9.x With the exception of IRIX 6.2, a recent (2.7.2 or later) version of gcc is the suggested compiler. Among the more interesting changes to players: Forecasts now show # alien systems seen, size, etc. The Z (change email address) command now exists (if your GM enables it). Only the quit (q) and message (@) commands from standard galaxy are "missing". When partial techs are in use, tech levels of produced ships show up in ships in production tables when techprod option is turned on by the player. The showopts option now includes information related to K commands, Z commands, and the galaxy executable version. Names with spaces, including empire names, should now be able to be read in and understood (but not put in reports). I've spent a lot of extra time on making the work right with this version, as well as put it through some commercial code bug finding tools. I'd like to think the effort was worth it. Please check ftp://cs.utk.edu/pub/bampton/Blind or your nearest mirror site (in a few days). -- $1000 plus $1 per byte fee for proofing commercial mail sent to me.
