"Fear not, brave and loyal captain, we'll not risk the wrath of our Lady; she is allied with your lord, and it would be death for us to attack you." The Captain was a bit more confiant, even if he had only 20 men to guard this city.. "Right, we'll open the gates" The riders went back in his rank, to report to his commander "They'll open the gate, Sir" Cmdt Lujan: "Of course they'll do, we are ally !" What I'm asking is for you to change your default attitude to allow non-affilliated units out of the city. Maybe with enough of us stampeding out the gates one or two might actually survive. Just tell us which way to go so that we aren't running deeper into your territory. It's cruel and inhumane to blockade a starting city. New factions have no choice to enter the game at one of the six cities. If a new faction doesn't make the correct decision and choose a different exit from the Nexus their faction is basically doomed to restart. At least leave a single hex open to allow units to depart. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Dragons, dragons everywhere!!! More items that I have no idea how to use!!! Yeah!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Durness Times. Issue 1 in the post Twee era FREEDOM AT LAST!!!!!!!!!! All of Durness celebrated the crushing defeat of that tortured city's previous rulers. In battles within and without the great city the SEP had been soundly defeated by the liberating forces of the UNCLE Alliance. After countless months of religous persecution and totalitarian government under the Brotherhood of Twee, the populous of Durness is breathing a great sigh of relief. With the SEP blockade smashed it can only be a matter of time before the economy of the region picks up. The meager Inn operated by the Priests of Muldoon is reportedly already seeing an increase in buisness. The inn keeper was reported as saying. "Buisness? Aye, the soldiers need somesplace to drink and brawl! These new lads are so much more biosterous than those religous freaks from the Twees. My inn is booming!". Comments from other barkeeps and taverns in the bustling city are largely in concurence. "It is as if a great weight has been lifted from our collective chests" one resident was quoted as saying. With the armies of the SEP smashed in the great battles of the past few months one can only assume that the SEP must withdraw soon. A few straglers are reported still lurking around the city and it's sorrounds, but they are expected to scurry away soon. One source, whoose name we cannot make public, indicated that the remaining SEP forces are expected to withdraw to the East to defend their heartlands from the combined advances of UNCLE in the south and Nameless in the north. Representives from UNCLE, newly arrived in the city, would make no official comments. But many concede that further advances by UNCLE are certainly on the horizon. Meanwhile, reps from the AIF, or Alliance of Independent Factions, were quick to support the actions taken by UNCLE. "As the member of the Anti-SEPtic league with the most hatred of the SEP we certainly support the actions of liberating Durness. At last that great city is free." As for wheather or not the AIF has any plans on returning to Durness. "I can neither confirm nor deny that AIF forces will reclaim the Durness region. Negotiations with UNCLE and other members of the anti-SEPtic league will be neccessary". Word on the street here is that the AIF will be back soon, and in force. "We have considerable assets tied up overseas in other regions of Atlantis" one rep told us. "As the fastest growing Alliance in A3 we certainly have the resources to mount a reclamation project of Deveron" one source told us. Whatever the case, the future for Durness looks bright. It is this paper's opinion that the SEP will haunt us no more. Whoever our new rulers turn out to be, they will certainly be better than Twee and their evil cohorts in the SEP. THOUSANDS DIE IN GREAT BATTLE!!! In the fighting of the past month it has now been confirmed that atleast one thousand SEP soldiers were killed, with more being wounded. Estimates of UNCLE looses range anywhere from several dozen to several hundred dead and more wounded. Reports coming in from sorrounding regions indicate that the SEP may have lost as many a s 3000 troops in the area around Durness in heavy fighting, but these figures have yet to be confirmed. Even with the invincible city guards to aid them the SEP army was crushed easily. There was a lack of tactical coordination among their soldiers that was truly astounding. More information on the great Battles around Durness should be forthcoming soon. MAN BITES DOG!!!! In the midst of the great Battle for Durness one SEP soldier simply could not take the stress of battle. He reportedly lost all sense of reality and began babbling incoherently about Twee. He then, as one witness put it, "Bit the arse of a poor little dog!". Leave it to an SEP man to attack a defenseless mutt. QUOTE OF THE DAY "The SEP is soon to be no more. We will have our revenge at last. Our armies will follow them to the ends of this world. We will not rest until every single SEP faction has been wiped out of Atlantis. I thought you had him clean there, but it looks like the cards were against ya. Come on, let's head for home now. Who knows, maybe on the way we can stop and pick ya up a deck of cards that doesn't got any jacks, huh?" It was with great disappointment the responsible lumberjack stood before Lord Smygelfh last month. Despite his bold promises, no yew had been found in the promising cave. UNCLE has attacking SEP for the last three turns (four if you count this one) and killed over 3000 SEP men and three mages. UNCLE has lost around 300 or so men and have pretty much cleared the area around the exit city Durness. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Order of Dagon (226): The room was deep in the bowels of the mountain town, built there because its contents would disturb even the hardy hill dwarves who called Gourock their home. The walls and ceiling were dank black stone over which a constant stream of stagnant water ran like a death shroud before being absorbed by the stinking earth. Sputtering torches and candles set irregularly in the walls cast sickly light on stone bookshelves full of rotting tomes, rude wooden tables covered with glassware and bubbling, foul concoctions, and cages whose unknown residents shrieked, gibbered and howled in vain for freedom. "Uhm, Sir?" Ikit Claw set his mask, an intricate creation of mithril, silver, bone and jewels, into the acid bath carefully. He looked up to see Shakes trembling in the doorway. The sight of Ikit's unmasked face caused Shakes to blanch. "What is it?" Ikit hissed irritably. "I.. uh..." Shakes gagged several times, "that is..." Ikit gave him a determined glare. The pudgy mage trembled even harder but the additional fear seemed to help him regain his ability of speech. "The mages from Damage, Inc. will be arriving soon. I, that is, We- that is, the others and I- thought you might want to be present." "You thought..." Ikit fell silent while he pondered this turn of events. "I... well... uh..." Shakes sputtered helplessly, his eyes searching around desperately for something, anything else to look at. "Th-they say that Johnny Clone has become active again. He seeks to kill the imposter Sevrin and regain control of the Biophreaks. Lord Humongous wants to move his wizards here to help with the attack." Ikit growled softly. "This is of no concern to me. We provide the Biophreaks with enchanted weapons and armour in exchange for their protection. Whether their ruler is Johnny Clone or someone else means nothing. I noticed them a few turns ago, but they were not revealing their faction number and I didn't have any observers in the area (All my units in the area were set to reveal faction.) Last turn they began guarding and forbidding movement and this turn they attacked. I was considering training up an observer, but the attack resulted in the destruction of my colony. I don't even know who to denounce in the times for attacking with absolutely no attempt at diplomacy whatsoever. Be warned that if you encounter units with similar names that are concealing their faction number, unprovoked and unannounced aggression from them is a distinct possibility.
