A game is, by its nature, a simulation or a model of a place, time, and
sequence of events. Competition is intended to occur within the confines
of the "universe" defined by the game. What you have done, from what I
understand from your description, is similar to a bunch of Netrek players
taking advantage of server bugs to get more kills.

Of course, the world isn't black and white. Psychological warfare is (usually)
not integral to a game system either but it's an accepted part of gaming
nonetheless. In fact, that's one of the factors that makes human vs. human
games much more challenging and fun than human vs. computer games.

Another exception is communication by players outside of the game. Some
people allow this and some don't, but it's generally an accepted part of
gaming, too.

So yes, there is some precedent supporting your case. But the difference
between those examples and what you have done, IMHO, is that you
meddled with the infrastructure of the game, and in so doing, made the
game inconsistent. If I were the game judge, I too would rule that you stepped
too far out of bounds.
