[PBEM News] Ribenheim: The Awakening From: silvestine01@gmail-dot-com.no-spam.invalid (silvestine) Date: Mon, 16 Jul 2007 02:49:50 +0000 You walk into the store. A place you have never been, since you don't normally come down by the gates. You hardly leave the main Castle, but today you felt adventerous. As you walk in, you look around, and are surprised by the size of the place. It looks much smaller from the outside... The next thing you notice, are the multitudes of goods lineing the walls, and shelves. And the walls. Gods, you have NEVER seen so many paintings, and wall hangings, and tapestries in one place. And wall sconses, and candle holders...it's amazing. As you stare around the place in wonder, (You didn't even look at what it was called, but you decide to make sure you do before you leave) a short fat man comes walking up to you, with a large smile and open arms. "Why hello there <enter name here>! How have you been up at the Castle? Pleasant times, I hope? Oh, don't look so surprised that I know your name, who WOULDN'T know one such as you, hmm? Yes, yes...thank you indeed. And what can I get for you today? A good tapestry? Something to draw the eye to your door? Hmm? How about something Erotic. I have the most astonishing painting, of a girl and King...No? Not into that sort? Yes I know, but sometimes one never knows. BUt indeed, I DO know what you want. A <insert item here>. Oh ho ho! How did I know? I know quite a bit, quite a bit. SO, is that going to be everything for you today? Oh, I know! A gift for your <insert Male or Female love interest name>. Yes? I know, I know, I seem to know everything. I assure you I do not, but not for lack of trying. An golden opal, carved in the shape of a rose. She will? Yes, I am aware she will love it. Maybe you'll finally get some, eh? HAHA! Look at your face! No, I am sorry. Ok, that will be <insert price here>. Oh? Don't have it on you? Well thats ok. You can come back tomorrow, I'll be closing soon. No, don't worry, I know where you live. Thank you for shopping Vester's, have a nice day <insert lad or lass>. Wow. That man knew a lot about you. You wonder how someone you have never met, could possibly know so much, but you don't wonder long. With this new Rose gem, you are SURE to impress. You get home, and to your shock, when you walk into your quarters, the Tapestry you wanted is hanging on the wall, exactly where you wanted it. That man, is amazing. --- Verster Delrue. A name most people know. You need something? Vester has it. If he doesn't, he can get it. Vester. You need to sell an item that is...well...not exactly "yours"? He can dispose of it for you. And for a decent profit. And no one has every been caught through him, so it's safe. Vester Delrue. If he doesn't have it, or says he can't get it, no one can. At least thats what he says. No one really know where he came from, but he's here, and here to stay. A few merchants have tried to outsell him, or buy him out, but 3 have dissapeared without a trace, and 2 moved to the far north. The other, he sold himself into slavery. Vester Delrue, Merchant "Lord", at your service. -------------------- Ribenheim: The Awakening is a game set in a world of my own creation. They were designed to give people a taste of what is happening in the world and kingdom and city of Ribenheim. -------------------- Greetings, Citizens and Foreigners alike. I am King Baldimere Stoutmire, ruler of the Greatest Kingdom this World has ever seen! I have battled the hated Elves countless times with Great success but i am not only a soldiering man. I see wisdom in peace, and when peace is more useful then war. The War with the Elves has come to an end due in a large part to my efforts. It was not benefitting either...peoples, and a stalemate was letting the bloodforce of this world bleed out. It was in my best interest, in my peoples best interest, in my Kingdoms best interest, for this War to end. And, let me tell you, didnt i make such an agreement with the Elven Queen to end it? Oh yes! But i will not ruin any surprises right now. To find that out, you must attend the Midsummers Festival! The Midsummers Festival? Of course, you are cordially invited to attend! There will be a festival in the Great City of Ribenheim, the likes of which have never been experianced before! There is much to celebrate of course! What else could be better then the end of conflict, the promise of peace, and commercial prosperity? Set aside your quarrels and join in the fun! I would be a lier if i said i was completely happy, though. I will not bore you with my whorish ways and family issues. My mind is drawn to the North, where rumors are trickling in about a Darkness that is spreading. War-hardened soldiers on patrol have gone missing, with out a trace. Elven trickery? Some of my so-called Nobles would have me believe so, but only they could hope to profit from another war. No, i think it is something else, something that only the Archives knows the truth behind. A legend passed down from generation to generation in my family. But i pray it is not so. But how will i find out? I offer you Noble Adventurers Gold from my own coffers if you journey to the North and discover what lies behind this rumors. Ah! That is all the time i can spare this day. Matters of the Court can only be left unattended for so long. And is that the dinner bell i hear ringing? There is surely not enough time in each day for a King to run his Kingdom! Out! Get out of here and about your business! I have things to attend to! -- posted from PBEM News - PBEM listings and announcements Reply to this post at http://www.pbemnews.org Up
