International Internet Football (commercial launch) From: Phil Shulkind <phil@phildee.demon.co.uk> Date: Sun, 01 Jun 1997 00:00:00 +0000 Have you got what it takes to achieve success as the coach of a soccer club? Here's your chance to put your abilities to the test, pitting your wits against 47 other human opponents. You'll need to combine long term planning with tactical awareness to succeed though, winning is one thing - staying at the top is something else completely! In INTERNATIONAL INTERNET FOOTBALL (IIF) you take on the role of a football club coach. You won't have to worry about the tedious detail of running a club, the boring things like ground maintenance and contract arrangements are carried out on your behalf by your minions. Your job is to run the team - pure and simple. It's down to you to pick the team, arrange deals with other players, decide which players to bid for on the transfer market, ensure that your club has a steady stream of young players coming through the ranks into your first team, to coach the right players, and perhaps most important of all to pick the right tactics to outwit your opponents! Of course it won't be easy, play too aggressively and you'll have suspensions to deal with, and you never know when an injury crisis may be just around the corner... Each turn (week) your club will play two league matches, playing the other eleven teams in you division home and away in a 22 match season. Besides the league there are two cup competitions - the Cup, and for first round Cup losers, the Bowl. Each week you will also be sent, free of charge, "From The Dugout", an email fanzine dedicated to real world football, as well as IIF. The mechanics of playing the game are simple using our specially written player software (requires PC with Windows), which will ensure that you make no errors in your turn instructions, enabling you to concentrate on the challenge of building a successful side. Choose your teams, send the details to us in an email message, and you will get a "pre-processing" report confirming that your turn has reached us safely. Changed your mind about your team selections? No problem! Send us a fresh set of orders and they'll replace the original - as many times as you like up to the time we run your league. The software is free of charge, and you are welcome to distribute it to friends and colleagues who may also be interested in playing IIF. The cost to play is just 75 pence per week. Or even cheaper - for 25 pounds a year (payable in advance), we'll let you run *two* clubs, with nothing more to pay until the start of the following year. Two teams not enough? For 50 pounds a year you can run an UNLIMITED number of teams! Due to the low individual turnfee of these prepayment options, the payment is not refundable. Naturally you'll want to try the game before you commit yourself, so try our no obligation offer of joining a league and having the first four weeks play FREE. If you decide to play we'll send further details of payment methods. To register with us you will need to do the following. Send an email message to iif@phildee.demon.co.uk with a subject of ACCOUNT NEW. In the body of the message give your name and address, as if you were addressing an envelope. Do not add anything else, not even a signature. We cannot accept any applications that do not include a postal address.
