Unpublished PBM Articles From: kmgraphiks@aol.com (KMGraphiks) Date: Thu, 05 Jun 1997 00:00:00 +0000 Howdy everyone, Let me get right to the point. I'm looking for previously unpublished PBM articles for The PBM Report. If you have written an article and submitted it to another PBM publication (AF perhaps?) without receiving compensation and without it being published then you have every right to submit it elsewhere (The PBM Report perhaps?). Without getting too negative about AF (PBM Voyager), the new owner, John Hansen, hasn't been heard from for months, even from some of his closest associates. I've sent him a couple unanswered emails and actually tried to call him today at his last known number (702-828-9055). I wanted to talk to John about the possibility of PBM Voyager and The PBM Report peacefully coexisting and perhaps cooperating. After all, I did give him the PBM Voyager logo for nothing and was hoping he would actually publish the magazine. I believe PBM players will enjoy both our formats, one with long diaries and strategy articles, the other with short news bits and mini-reviews. Unfortunately the phone response I got was the telephone company's standard disconnect recording. I know for a fact there were a bunch of articles slated for AF #61 and beyond. In fact I had already laid out 3-4 of the articles when AF fell (I was the production dept. you may remember). I assume when John bought AF from Bob he was given all the articles to publish as he saw fit. In my strictly amateur legal opinion these articles can not be considered his property if he or Bob McLain never gave the authors any compensation. Thus the authors still retain all rights to the articles and may have them published elsewhere. In this context I'm offering to publish any of your previously unpublished and unpaid for PBM articles. The size restrictions of the PBM Report may necessitate that they be edited or divided into multiple articles. If you have a long diary article I recommend you submit it to the other PBM magazine, Paper Mayhem. It would be a darn shame for these articles to forever be unpublished. I'm sure the authors put their hearts and souls into writing them and I'm just as sure the PBM community would love to read them. Ken Mitchell The PBM Report PS, The preview sample issue of The PBM Report is on track to mail June 15 to 1500+ PBM players. Feel free to send me your address if you haven't already done so. Up
