Advertising Policy update From: graeme@discreet.co.uk (Graeme Griffiths) Date: Wed, 11 Jun 1997 00:00:00 +0000 O.K. folks heres what I've discovered. The whole issue of adverts is dealt with by the FAQ, maintained by Greg Lindahl. The accepted policy is that short, new game announcments of the sort "I have a new game - find out about at www.mygame.com" are fine. Periodic adverts are discouraged. In order to be posted periodically send a balanced game precis to Greg and he'll put you on the PBM list which will be posted periodically. This removes all need for periodic adverts from game companies yet allows them the freedom to announce to new players their latest games. There is, therefore, no need to continue with the draft of a proposal. Its in the FAQ. I apologise for wasting badwidth unnecessarily. The reason I haven't seen the FAQ is that I pick FAQs up from news.answers because they don;t expire so quickly from there and the cross-posting has been failing recently. Greg will fix this. I feel I should point out that over the course of the discussion I and others have implied (and even said) that Mr Lindahl is an irrational moaner and that he is unreasonably stifling the freedoms of legitimate PBM moderators to use this group as a notice board. I would like to point out this was not my intention (though it may have been others) and I apologise whole-heartedly to Greg for any affront he feels I have caused him. As far as I'm concerned the issue is closed and I hope the majority agree. -- Graeme Griffiths - Discreet Logic (Newbury, UK) Disclaimer: I do not speak for anyone but myself and I do that badly.
