[PBEM News] Unchained: Savan's Rest From: azurablack@yahoo-dot-com.no-spam.invalid (azurablack) Date: Mon, 09 Jul 2007 02:50:01 +0000 Far to the north, beyond the shores of civilized lands, upon the icy Valathian Sea, lies the island of Savan's Rest. It is a cold, forsaken place, where winter is without end. And it is here, free of their chains but now captives of fate, a disparate group of desperate former prisoners find themselves stranded. Their survival will depend upon their wit and will alone, for while the environment itself will prove a bitter foe, a far darker threat lurks in the shadows... *** Unchained: Savan's Rest is a new D&D 3.5 edition PBeM, played via Yahoo Groups. A D&D game with a splash of classic swords-and-sorcery adventure, players will embark upon a grim quest for survival in a harsh environment. Combat will play a major role, but the primary focus of the game will be on exploration, role-playing, and a (hopefully!) compelling story. Interested? Here are some character creation guidelines: - Characters begin at level 3 (or ECL 3), 36 point buy. - All standard PHB/PHB2 races and classes are allowed. I'm open to you using stuff from other sources, but please check with me first. All alignments (including evil) are allowed, and players are encouraged to create a party of diverse alignments -- they'll have to work together in order to survive, regardless of their personal moral convictions. - Shortly before the game's story begins, all characters were prisoners of the Adessian Empire, bound by slave ship to the island of Savan's Rest, where they were to work the emberstone mines at the imperial colony of Raven Rock. As such, they have no weapons, armor, gold, or any other items at the start of the adventure. Your character's only possessions are a tattered linen tunic and a pair of loose linen breeches, secured by a short (4') length of rope. - Feel free to come up with any reason you like as to why your character was a captive aboard an imperial ship. Perhaps you were wrongly convicted of a crime you didn't commit, or stepped on the toes of a corrupt noble? Maybe you're an "uncivilized" barbarian, or citizen of a rival nation whose people were conquered by the empire. Or maybe you're a true villain who fully deserved it! I'm currently looking for 4-6 players.
